Dragon Quest IX sees DS sales up
New RPG boosts Japanese games business
Dragon Quest IX is presently riding high in the Japanese software charts, Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada stating that he hopes the new RPG can sell in excess of five million copes.
"Were looking at reaching over 5 million copies of Dragon Quest IX shipped," Wada-san told the Japanese press, as the game was credited with boosting sales of the DS console.
Square Enix are also hopeful the release of this latest title in the epic series can give the Japanese games industry as a whole something of a lift, the business having been in the doldrums somewhat in recent months.
