Warner in pole position to land Midway
Completion of take-over nears
According to the LA Times, Warner Bros. are now the only bidder involved in the prospective take-over of struggling US games publisher Midway, meaning that the firm are on the brink of completing a deal.
No other offers emerged for the firm, so there will be no auction, meaning that the 33 million take-over / rescue is now all about thrashing out the final details. Apparently, Vin Diesel's voice work for Wheelman remains a sticking point.
Warner Bros. will take ownership of the Wheelman IP, as well as Mortal Kombat and Spy Hunter - not to mention a couple of development studios. Midway Newcastle and San Diego have been cut loose however, and are presently seeking purchasers.
The purchase should be completed by July 1st, we hear.
