Icarian forced to change name
Kid Icarus-alike becomes NyxQuest
Nintendo aren't working on a new Kid Icarus game, despite the enthusiasm of old school fans, and so OTT have created and released (in Europe, so far) Icarian: Kindred Spirits.
Even though the game is out on the continent and a release stateside is due soon - and in spite of existing reviews - OTT have apparently been forced to change the name into something not so close to its source of inspiration.
So, the name is now NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits, which isn't really as good.
This from OTT CEO Rob Alvarez says: "There will be a new version of the game with the new name in the next days. That's the only change. It has to do with a trademark claim by another videogame company. We are a small indie developer and could not fight for our rights."
It had been assumed that the complainant was Kid Icarus creators Nintendo. But OTT assure this move has nothing to do with 'Kid Icarus'. How bizarre. More soon. Thanks Edge.
