A new Usability Centre for Video Games is to be established by the British government in Manchester; the new centre to offer training, skills and other resources to those considering employment in the games industry.

Apparently, the new centre will be located in the BBC's new MediaCity headquarters, which will be centered in Salford on the outskirts of Manchester.

It is hoped the new centre will become an establishment of national significance, and it will be tailored to meet the needs of industry.

The centre will make use of the BBC's Children's and Sports Department, Interactive Education and Literacy Department, and R&D operations, we're told.

It isn't yet clear when the centre will open its doors. Thanks to Eurogamer.net.
