Development costs to soar with next-gen
60 million costs scare Guillemot
Yet more from Ubisoft chief Yves Guillemot this afternoon, as we're told by the exec that next-generation games could cost as much as 60 million USD to make. Each.
The current hardware cycle saw development costs rocket, and this is likely to increase even more as the next iteration of systems rolls around.
Speaking to CNBC, Guillemot explained: "The next generation is going to be so powerful that playing a game is going to be the equivalent of playing a CGI movie today."
He expects future titles to cost in the region of 60 million USD, versus the current 20-30 million USD for top-end video games on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
