Shane Kim promises epic Natal launch
Console-scale entry planned for motion tech
Shane Kim says that the scale of the eventual Natal launch will be as big as if a brand new console was hitting the market; as big as the Xbox 360's dramatic entrance.
"Conceptually, the launch of Natal will be like the launch of Xbox 360," the big cheese explained to Kotaku. "It's going to be that big. We're not just going to ship it when the hardware and software are ready. We have to make sure that there are enough content experiences that are really good.
"That's similar to how you would think of the launch of a new console. It's got to have a great launch line-up. That's the same thing here."
Beyond an assault on the casual market, Kim adds that Natal isn't really about competing with the Wii - but rather going one step further, removing the need for a controller entirely and looking to appeal to the 60 percent of homes that still don't have a games system.
