Chatting with Joystiq at last week's epic E3 bash in LA, II producer Patrice Desilets has let slip that the original Assassin's Creed has now sold in excess of a whopping eight million copies.

This figure presumably covers all formats in all regions, but is especially impressive given that the first Assassin's Creed actually did have its detractors.

"We sold some eight million copies of it, you know. Some people really enjoyed and loved the game," Desilets offered, deferentially.

Ubisoft are now hard at work on Assassin's Creed II, and are promising to take on board all feedback with this massive sequel.
