Prince of Persia impossible on Wii
Ubisoft cannot deliver faithful port
The Wii console's diminutive innards make a port of Ubisoft's Prince of Persia unlikely on the format, producer Ben Mattes has told Industrygamers this week.
While the publisher are working hard on making the series more appealing to mainstream players, more accessible, Nintendo's console simply doesn't have the clout to pull off some of the game's key features.
"The AI of Elika was highly advanced and required a lot of processing power; the world size and dynamic loading, the draw distance, the number of polygons in the characters...," Mattes offers.
"If we had done a Wii version, it would have been toned down, probably linear, it wouldn't have been an open-world game, and so it would have been a very different experience. We didn't want to water it down that way."
