No price cuts were offered by Sony, or over E3, and while neither Microsoft or Nintendo were expected to offer anything - it came as a surprise to some that didn't move to make the a little more 'accessible'.

Still, with nothing offered over E3, the lull following the show has seen a number of rumours kick-off, 'sources' quoted by analyst Arvind Bhatia as suggesting that Sony will knock 100 USD off the price of the PS3 later this summer.

"Industry sources indicate Sony is planning a $100 price cut on the PS3 in mid-August, just prior the launch of (8/18) and the start of the back to school shopping season. This will naturally be a positive for the industry," Bhatia tells Industrygamers.

August does seem rather soon, given that there was no whisper on this at E3, but we would expect something from Sony prior to Christmas, the firm no doubt eager to give their rivals some over this key period.
