PS2 sales rise, Cube's fall
More hardware sales results
Despite everyone assuming that the PS2's installed user-base must reach saturation at some point, sales remained strong in the week just passed with the PS2 out-selling the Xbox by 3 to 1, which in turn outsold the third-placed GameCube by 2.5 to 1. This after Cube sales dropped 15% meant that the market leading PS2 was outselling it by an embarrassing margin of 7.5 to 1.
Nintendo however went on the counter-offensive today after the launch of these sales figures from Chart-Track, claiming the number-two spot in Europe, and a market share of 25%. This may however be something Microsoft would contest.
Finally, as we enter then next fortnight, it is expected that the GameCube will once again rise, possibly to the number one spot, thanks to the eagerly awaited Cube and Mario Kart £99 bundle. Significant times ahead, then.
