Rumours abound on the internet this week that a new version of is being developed by Burnout masterminds Criterion, with release on the cards in 2010.

Need for Speed: Shift, meanwhile, is being built by Slightly Mad Studios for a release later this year (usual makers Black Box are focussing on a Need for Speed title at present).

According to Primotech, EA CEO announced Criterion's involvement in the series at an internal presentation.

Responding to the rumour, EA will only offer that they're focussing on the release of Shift at present.

Shift producer Jesse Abney, meanwhile, has previously hinted that would be good to work with.
