BioShock 2 multiplayer aided by Digital Extremes
Veterans help craft ambitious new mode
2K Marin have finally offered up some details on their plans for the new multiplayer mode that will be included in BioShock 2. Apparently, the new mode will give players a picture of Rapture before the underwater city descended into anarchy.
The developers hope to shake up the FPS action by rewarding experience points with genetic enhancements during play. This will cover new weapons, plasmids, and tonics that will be used in "hundreds" of combinations.
As you progress in the multiplayer experience you'll unearth more about Rapture prior to its collapse, we're told, stepping into the role of a citizen. "Experience Rapture before it was reclaimed by the ocean and engage in combat over iconic environments in locations such as Kashmir Restaurant and Mercury Suites, all of which have been reworked from the ground up to deliver a fast-paced multiplayer experience," beams the press release.
We also learn that genre veterans Digital Extremes are helping craft the multiplayer mode - lending their experience on the Unreal Tournament series to the game.
The game will be released at the end of the year on PS3, PC and Xbox 360.
