In-game ads suffer as Microsoft cut staff
Massive lose 75% of team
In-game advertising was once regarded as the future, but it seems as if the once hailed industry could be struggling, Microsoft having confirmed mass lay-offs at their Massive in-game ad division.
Apparently, over 100 Massive employees have been axed, the total representing 75 per cent of all employees at the company.
Over 4,000 Microsoft employees have so far been made redundant, as Redmond responds to the unparalleled economic conditions - the firm having recently confirmed its first ever drop in profits.
5,000 staff will be culled in total - although business gossip suggests the final total could be even more - given the severity of the recession hitting the developed world.
