Final Fantasy sales near 100 million
Square confirm lifetime figures
Square Enix reveal today that lifetime sales of the Final Fantasy series now top 85 million units, while the next major release in the long-running series could push it nearer to the magic 100 million mark.
Coming as the Japanese firm closes a deal to take ownership of Eidos Interactive, we're also told Dragon Quest has sold 47 million units, while Kingdom Hearts has sold an impressive 12 million copies.
Eidos shareholders are being compensated at 32 pence per share, and the take-over is all but final from what we hear.
Tomb Raider is of course no slouch, in the Eidos camp, but 85 million? That's a lot of game sales.
