On-demand video heading to Wii and DS
Satoru Iwata confirms Nintendo video service
Speaking this week to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has revealed that the platform holder is hard at work on a new video on-demand system for the Wii, with a role in there for the DSi, too.
"If the Wii and the DS are connected, it should be possible to download video through the Wii and take it with you on the DS," Iwata-san revealed.
"When the service begins, you'll see how we're going to do it differently in a Nintendo-like way. There are a lot of on-demand video services, so there's no reason to do the same thing, so we're going to do something different."
The service will debut in Japan, according to the boss-man, and if it takes off then releases elsewhere will be scheduled.
The service has been rumoured for some time, but this is the most official chatter we've heard on it yet.
