Sony could be about to drop the price of the console, from 120 USD to 100 USD for April according to word in from Joystiq this morning.

Some rather ropey looking photos from retailer K-Mart are cited by way of evidence in the blog's report, and this speculation does fit in with other rumours on the grapevine; namely that will have some big US news tomorrow.

Could March 31st's news be related to the reduction of the PS2 in the United States? We'd have preferred a cut but this does seem more likely. It is unclear if other parts of the world might also expect a price cut at this point.
