Want to help test the new cloud-based gaming service, OnLive? Well, beta registration is now live and you can register your interest via the official website now.

The beta itself is scheduled to kick off in the summer, with the service scheduled to arrive this winter. According the site, "you need to be at least 18, based in the and have a broadband-connected running Windows Vista/XP, or an Intel-based Mac."

The service promises to deliver standard and high definition pictures with no local processing required; only the ability to connect and play via OnLive's servers.

Eventually, services like could mean the death of traditional consoles, players using the power of the 'cloud' to play the very latest games; without the need for local computing muscle. An interesting prospect indeed.
