Zeebo 3G console goes after developing market
Another new console hits GDC
Yet another new games system is outed for GDC today; the Zeebo 3G consoles stepping into the limelight. Aimed firmly at developing countries such as India, China, Brazil and Eastern Europe, the console packs a punch somewhere in the region of the PS2, and will cost 199 USD in Brazil, and 179 USD elsewhere.
Described by CEO John Rizzo as the "video game console for the next billion", the console will be a little larger than a Wii, a 3G connection used to deliver games to areas that often don't have good wire-based internet access.
The console's pricing also promises to make the console more accessible, although the RRP isn't so different from the Xbox 360/Wii, and looks expensive when you consider the PSone/PS2 standard games.
A number of titles such as Quake and FIFA 09 are included out of the box - with others available on-demand. Quake 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Resident Evil 4 and Ridge Racer are all mooted.
