New Red Faction to stomp on rivals - Volition
Designer talks up in-game tech
US developer Volition are pretty confident that Red Faction: Guerrilla is light years ahead of the competition, lead designer James Hague telling Eurogamer.net that "we're ahead of everybody by five to ten years in terms of destruction."
An open-world Red Faction sequel has been in the works for five years at Volition, and so confident is Hague in the game's environmental interactivity that he he says they're "ruining other games for people with this game."
He believes rival titles are going to look very restrictive by comparison, adding that Guerrilla takes things in an entirely different direction.
"While other games companies were going toward pretty-but-static, we wanted to go toward fully-dynamic for everything. It's a very different technical direction from where other people are going."
