Steam to offer DLC support
In-game downloads launched for Valve service
Taking Valve's content delivery system for the PC further into traditional Xbox Live-esque territory, the developer today confirm that Steam will now offer publishers in-game DLC using the platform.
The Maw, from Twisted Pixel, will be the first game to offer extra paid-for content in-game; delivered completely via Steam.
The Maw: Brute Force and The Maw: River will be the new levels added by way of "deleted scenes", and they will apparently fit between existing levels if downloaded.
Cleverly, Valve reveal that even games originally not sold via Steam, can use the service to deliver DLC to their titles, which seems a smart move on Valve's part given the tribulations some PC titles face online. More as the service as it evolves.
