EA expect lower console prices in the future
Current gen here for the long haul
EA executive Eric Brown believes that the current generation of consoles could stick around for a lot longer than previous iterations, and that this will result in lower prices in the long run.
Speaking at the Wedbush Morgan conference in the USA, Brown revealed his belief that HD technology at 60 frames-per-second sees current technological innovation at the very limit of what is possible.
"I myself am not quite sure where we go from here," Brown admitted. "There's just no broadly-available consumer viewing technology beyond HD. You have to be a PC technophile with an ultra high resolution monitor to get past that."
He adds that the Wii's success with limited graphical power also caps the significance of bleeding-edge technology, further delaying new systems.
"The point here is that we've seen one major price drop thus far in this console cycle; we feel that we have a long ways to go, and a lot more of the unit sales will occur at the lower price points."
