Earlier this week, we heard via a Japanese press event that a new Biohazard game is on the way to the console, with today officially announcing Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for Western markets.

North American and European launches for the title are now scheduled for this "winter", a sequel to the Umbrella Chronicles the dish of the day; the game set in 2's world.

The Darkside Chronicles will be an on-rails style shooter, no doubt designed to take advantage of the Wii's unusual interfaces. A budget price point (29.99 USD in the US) is mooted.

"We are very excited to be bringing the sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles to the Wii as it's the perfect fit for the platform," commented marketing bod Mona Hamilton.

"We are always looking for new ways to give Capcom fans a chance to experience our games. Umbrella Chronicles was a huge success for us, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles includes a more in-depth co-op experience, and we are excited to bring this exclusive content to the Wii audience."
