The festivities are over at London's Park Lane Hilton, the great and good of the British games having descended for an evening celebrating the very best of the medium alongside BAFTA. However, perhaps the biggest story of the night is what didn't win.

Grand Theft Auto IV may have been a phenomenon but Rockstar's opus went home empty handed, as did 2 and Mass Effect, other titles tipped for success. Instead, 4: was seemingly the toast of the industry this evening.

Call of Duty 4 (not the most recent World at War outing) took home the in the Action and category, Gameplay, and Story and Character.

Super Galaxy was voted Best Game, while won for Artistic Achievement and Professor Layton took the Handheld category.

The Multiplayer accolade went to Left 4 Dead, while took Original Score and Race Driver: GRID went away happy in the Sports award. Civilization Revolution was adjudged best Strategy game, Use of Audio went to Dead Space again and was voted a Technical Achievement.

Boro-Toro was BAFTAs One to Watch, while founder Nolan Bushnell was awarded a Fellowship.
