After Free Radical's near demise last year, we caught wind that the developer had been working on Battlefront III for LucasArts, but that the project was pulled. Rumour then pointed to either or taking charge of the game; today, Pandemic deny any part in the new title.

"As of right now I can say Battlefront III is not currently at Pandemic," assured an admin speaking on the official Pandemic forums.

"While I know the title seems to be up in the air from all the buzz around the web... will be the only one knowing where the title is at right now."

The plot thickens, it would seem, with VG247 also citing an insider source as revealing that Pandemic's project is the 'spiritual successor' to Battlefront II, but won't actually use the name. Perhaps Rebellion are behind number three after all?
