iPhone amasses 6,000 games
Puzzle titles the most popular downloadables
Mobile analytics organisation Mobclix reveal this afternoon that Apple's iPhone now offers in excess of 6,000 downloadable games via the App Store, with over 1,500 of these free to play.
Apparently puzzle games are the most ubiquitous genre, with over 2,000 titles, with arcade and action games next, both genres offering in the region of 1,300 games.
Then there are sports games, of which there are nearly 400, followed by over 100 racing titles. Apple are certainly growing in gaming stature, some analysts predicting that the iPhone, and the iPod Touch, could soon offer the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP real competition.
The PSP is visibly fighting back, too, Sony having announced by name handheld titles like MotorStorm, Assassin's Creed and LittleBigPlanet. What are your thoughts on the rise of Apple as a gaming power?
