Are games slowly but surely closing the gap on movies? They are if you're the man behind Mad Max, George Miller, who tells us this week that games are no longer the "poor cousins".

Speaking with MTV, Miller says that games were "the poor cousin to feature films when it came to storytelling but I think it's flipping. Games allow you be much more like a novelist."

A new Mad Max videogame is, interestingly, also in the works - Miller describing the title as a "hybrid game"; the director inspired by the freedom the medium offers.

"I'm curious how much you can engage with the characters through the gameplay. It's the opportunity to make a novel."

The director is working on the new game's script alongside II's Cory Barlog, which is certainly an impressive starting point.
