Speaking with the Official PlayStation magazine, Computer Entertainment boss has said that the console is intentionally tough to develop for.

Hirai reckons that the PlayStation 3's architecture will prevent game makers getting the most out of the console from the get-go, something he believes is a good thing that bodes well for the future.

"We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the can do, so then the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years?," the exec told the magazine.

While Hirai concedes that this is a 'double-edged sword', it does mean that "the hardware has a lot more to offer."

We'll bring you more pearls of wisdom from Sony soon.
