Acclaim chief Dave Perry has made a fairly tantalizing Twitter update this afternoon, apparently revealing that 'PSP2' will omit UMD support.

Perry's update offers: "I hear FINALLY has the 2. And thank goodness, they've removed the stupid battery-sucking UMD disc drive. I'm excited!"

Whether Perry's device is the long-rumoured PSP-4000 is unclear, but it seems likely, that mythical contraption said to a brand new look based around a sliding-screen design.

Yesterday, Sony confirmed a raft of new PSP games - while speculation surrounding a revision of the handheld continues to intensify. We'll keep you in the loop.
