MadWorld UK release date confirmed

Adult-themed Wii action title ready on March 20th.

Sega's violent action game MadWorld has been given a UK release date of March 20th.

Developed exclusively for the Wii by Platinum Games, the game's creators are hoping to cater for the more adult user of Nintendo's popular console.

Producer Atsushi Inaba told MCV: "The Wii is the most popular console in the world but there are not many games tailored to adult gamers, so we thought we'd be able to give this audience something the console has been missing."

"The first main concept was to make a fun game. We wanted to make a game with impact, action and entertainment and also a game that is very different from the existing games on the console," he said.

MadWorld has already been the subject of criticism from certain pressure groups, which Inaba acknowledges.

"But at the end of the day we are creating a game that is suitable only for a mature audience. Some people may take offence but you just can't please everyone. I hope that gamers will appreciate the game as a form of entertainment and not focus on the irreverent violent content," said Inaba.
