Battlefield 1943: Pacific has been this afternoon officially confirmed by EA, the PC, and title joined on those formats by Battlefield: 2 - which we hadn't heard quite so much about.

Battlefield 1943 will arrive this summer, according to word from developer DICE, who also tell us that Bad Company 2 will land in the winter.

Set over Pacific locales Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima, 1943 is all about the - recapturing the action-packed feel of past titles in the series.

Bad Company 2, meanwhile, will carry on from the previous title in the series - and will therefore be more singleplayer focussed.

"Bad Company 2 takes everything that players liked in the original and ups the ante - more vehicles, more destruction and more team play," enthused Magnus Troedsson.

"Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we’re eager to get into players hands."
