GTA makers this afternoon confirm a new game, a sequel to 2004 hit Read Dead Revolver. Hot-dang.

Red Dead Redemption will continue to follow the story of reformed outlaw John Marston, and will take place in the early 20th century Wild West.

The game world will see the West in a state of flux, the banditry and lawlessness of the past making way for technology and progress; the dawning of the modern era.

Rockstar San Diego are developing, and the game will be created for the and the PS3, making use of Rockstar's own RAGE game engine. Needless to say, an experience is on offer, complete with towns, prairie, nature and mountains - a sort of Western-themed GTA, if you will.

"The seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be," beamed big cheese Sam Houser.
