Crytek save Free Radical from the abyss
Studio purchaser revealed
German Crysis developers Crytek have been confirmed as the purchasers of troubled Nottingham game makers Free Radical this morning, administrators ReSolve confirming rumours which began last night.
"We are pleased to announce that a sale completed to Crytek late last night thus preserving over 40 jobs," read a statement offered to GI.biz.
Free Radical hit black ice before Christmas, laying off over 100 workers in a bid to stay afloat, while major projects were shed. The developer's future now appears to be secure - with a full announcement promised later.
"More than anything else I think everyone is relieved that we can now get back to concentrating on making games," designer Derek Littlewood told VG247.
