German developers have been confirmed as the purchasers of troubled Nottingham game makers this morning, administrators ReSolve confirming rumours which began last night.

"We are pleased to announce that a sale completed to Crytek late last night thus preserving over 40 jobs," read a statement offered to GI.biz.

Free Radical hit black ice before Christmas, laying off over 100 workers in a bid to stay afloat, while major projects were shed. The developer's future now appears to be secure - with a full announcement promised later.

"More than anything else I think everyone is relieved that we can now get back to concentrating on making games," designer Derek Littlewood told VG247.
