Nintendo target PS2 sales milestone
Iwata lays down the gauntlet
The race is on for Nintendo, it would seem, Japanese president Satoru Iwata stating that his firm are aiming to breaking the record breaking performance of Sony's PS2 with the Wii console.
The PS2 has shipped in excess of 120 million units worldwide, Nintendo's disruptive Wii having amassed in the region of 40 million so far. Iwata-san believes that software can help the platform maker achieve a new record; with new games to be revealed at this year's E3.
He enthused: "Wii still has much more room for expansion. We can expect more sales of software in the next fiscal year than in the current year. With what kind of software is Nintendo going to achieve this goal? Well, it will be shown at E3 to be held in the U.S. this June."
We'll bring you more on E3 2009 as it nears.
