The race is on for Nintendo, it would seem, Japanese president stating that his firm are aiming to breaking the record breaking performance of Sony's with the console.

The PS2 has shipped in excess of 120 million units worldwide, Nintendo's disruptive Wii having amassed in the region of 40 million so far. Iwata-san believes that software can help the platform maker achieve a new record; with new games to be revealed at this year's E3.

He enthused: "Wii still has much more room for expansion. We can expect more of software in the next fiscal year than in the current year. With what kind of software is going to achieve this goal? Well, it will be shown at E3 to be held in the U.S. this June."
