Epic contend with Gears of War DRM issues
Fix on the way for PC title
Word has it that the digital license supporting Gears of War on the PC expired yesterday, with Epic scrambling to patch the game up, allowing PC players to once again enjoy this seminal shooter.
Programmer 'joeGraf' admitted the issue on the official forums, and assures that the developer are working with Microsoft to fathom a work-around for this expiration problem.
"We have been notified of the issue and are working with Microsoft to get it resolved. Sorry for any problems related to this. I'll post more once we have a resolution," reads word from Epic.
"Yes, this was a surprise to us too. We aren't casting blame or chewing anyone out. We're trying to figure out how and why it happened so we can get it fixed."
Apparently, those trying to play the game will greeted with an error message, although re-setting your system clock to before January 29th does offer a temporary solution.
