Games for Windows safe despite cuts
New appointments offer assurance
In spite of large-scale cut-backs at Microsoft, the firm announcing lay-offs in a bid to off-set the pain of recession, the Games for Windows operation is safe - Microsoft reveal.
After former boss Chris Early left the company, there was speculation that the PC-pushing project might be sliced, alongside the Games for Windows - Live multiplayer platform. This is not the case, it would seem.
Rather, general manager Ron Pessner will move over from the Entertainment and Devices Division in order to take over at Games for Windows. He'll be joined in his new task by Dave Luehmann, who moves from Microsoft Games Studios.
