Microsoft have already closed their Flight Simulator developer ACES, with 5,000 jobs set to go at the firm as Redmond cut jobs and costs amid the onslaught of recession.

Chris Early, general manager of Games for Windows Live, has also departed Microsoft, we learn this morning, VG247 reporting that the executive's time at the big M has "come to a close".

Day's departure, coupled with Microsoft's large cut-backs, will inevitably spark conjecture over the Games for Windows initiative - Redmond's expensive shot at rejuvenating the platform, and setting up a Live-branded service on the format.
