Rebellion wanted to make Battlefront III from PS2 base
Conjecture still surrounds new Star Wars title
The latest twist in the ongoing Star Wars Battlefront III saga continues today, sources telling VG247 that UK developer Rebellion are proposing to create PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game from a PS2 version they're already working on.
Financially troubled UK firm Free Radical lost the Star Wars project several months ago, since when speculation has raged over who will continue work on the game. Rebellion, were linked, because they are reportedly already working on the PS2 version of the new game.
With the next-gen version stalling following Free Radical ceasing development, it was suggested that Rebellion might continue work using the PS2 title as a base, however it now looks as if the series will return to Pandemic.
It is now expected that the US developer will create the next-gen version of the game, with EA set to publish. More as we get it.
