Japanese hardware sales drop post-Christmas
Numbers down, drastically
2009 is here and while 2008 was a bumper year for all things gaming its time to start building again, with this in mind, the latest hardware sales numbers are out of Japan, and post-Christmas sales have fallen off something of a cliff.
The DSi/DS still leads, inevitably, but sales are down over 100,000 units on the previous week, totaling about 101,000 last week. The PSP is second, with a similarly depleted total of just over 60,000.
The Wii comes in third with over 41,000, the PS3 a nearing fourth with 28,000 sales.
The Xbox 360 is a leap down in fifth, having managed sales of over 10,000, the PS2 still hanging in there with nearly 7,000.
