Sony: 2009 looking good for PS3
Despite the Xbox 360 selling twice as many units as the PS3 over the key Christmas period stateside, Sony are adamant 2009 is looking good for their sexy breadbin.
Apparently, while December's sales were down on 2007's numbers for Sony, sales for 2008 overall were up some 40% on the previous year - which of course tells a somewhat different story.
Total US PlayStation 3 sales topped 3.6 million last year, with game sales hitting 6 million in December alone.
The best selling festive PS3 releases were LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Call of Duty and MK vs. DC.
The PSP also managed game sales of 3.7 million last month, titles like Crisis Core and God of War leading the charge.
"We remain confident in our momentum into 2009 as we continue to deliver to our consumers the best entertainment content and technology out there," concluded US exec Peter Dille.
