According to the latest sales data - off which the industry frequently hangs - the 360 outsold the PS3 by 2 to 1 over the course of last month.

360 sales were up from 1.26 million in December 2007 to 1.44 million in December 2008, well ahead of the PS3's figure of 726,000 units - a decline from 2007's 798,000.

The sold more strongly, sales topping 1 million - the managing a still-noteworthy 410,000.

Of course, while might have landed bragging rights this time, the real winner was - the managing 3.04 million sales over the month, the 2.15 million.

Overall, game sales were up 9% on 2007 - the largest revenues ever.
