Midway struggle to stay afloat
Publisher eyes Wheelman salvation
According to word in this morning from ShackNews, embattled US games publisher Midway are fighting for survival this morning, having earned a respite from certain creditors.
The veteran game maker has been facing the very real prospect of bankruptcy over the last two months, with debts of 150 million USD, and no Sumner Redstone to keep things ticking along. Billionaire Redstone sold his controlling stake in the firm for a piffling 100,000 USD back in December.
Some of the firm's investors have agreed to wait until February 19th before ratcheting up the pressure, and if remaining backers can be persuaded Midway might be able to release Vin Diesel's Wheeman game in time to garner some much needed revenue. The game is due on February 20th.
More on Midway's highly uncertain future soon.
