Having proclaimed that 2008 was the console's "biggest ever year", 360 product manager has told Edge magazine that he expects to see cut the cost of the soon.

Greenberg tells the gaming publication that he is surprised no price cut has been forthcoming sooner, stating: "We absolutely expect the PS3 price drop to happen in the next couple of months. We’re frankly surprised it’s taken this long. I would expect they’d have to move on price, sooner than later, for sure."

Much of the Xbox 360's success over the key festive season was attributed to a price cut last autumn, although given Sony boss David Reeves' assertion that the PlayStation must make money this year, this seems at odds with a price cut on a piece of that is already sold at a loss.

More on this tittle-tattle soon, no doubt.
