Monolith hope for F.E.A.R. flick

Would like to continue to expand IP

With F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (try typing that with a little Christmas 'spirit' inside you...) due out in February, we've been speaking with Monolith designer Craig Hubbard to learn more about the upcoming FPS. Beyond details on the new game, and the developer's hopes to continue the series, he also hinted that owners Warner might be persuaded to create a new movie based on the game.

"That would be awesome! I'd love to see it... the universe is so rich. We have tonnes of back-story," Hubbard offered when presented with the notion.

"We tried to hint a lot at that in F.E.A.R.; there were a lot of unanswered questions. So, in F.E.A.R. 2 we've swept through a lot of those old questions and made an effort to answer some of those, as well as posing a few new ones... because we have to... and ideally we'll answer a few of those and then as every good horror or action film does, you leave a few lingering..."

Chatting with this site, the designer also suggested that Monolith have further plans for the series: "We have a tremendous amount of story we would love to tell about Alma, and Alma's universe, Alma's... family... there's so much still there. We haven't really told everything. We have marker-boards full of story. There's a lot we could tell. If the fans are into it... we're into it."

Much much more in the full interview.
