At Spike TV's Video Game Awards over the weekend, III was demonstrated via a new trailer, the third in the series - and the first offering for the - gradually stepping into the limelight ahead of inevitably heavy exposure next year.

According to news alongside this tentative debut, the third in Kratos' story will mark the "epic conclusion" of the trilogy, although it is unclear whether this will actually be the last ever God of War title.

"We have large shoes to fill following the success of the previously released God of War titles," beams director Stig Asmussen.

"But with refined gameplay and jaw-dropping visuals, I guarantee that God of War will give fans what they have been eagerly waiting for, and much more."

Perhaps a prequel, next?
