Mirror's Edge and Dead Space sequels safe
EA plot more new titles, as well
More news now from EA's conference call with investors yesterday evening; the giant US publisher admitting that while sales aren't as high this Christmas as hoped - and that cut-backs will be made as a result - that new series' Mirror's Edge and Dead Space are safe.
"We’re very pleased with a lot of our new franchises this year. Spore… [will be an] ongoing franchise, Dead Space looks like a long-term big winner for us… Warhammer will continue to perform very well," CEO John Riccitiello offered.
"Mirror’s Edge was very strongly reviewed - That one’s going to go forward. We’ll be looking at some issues around the design to make sure that strong IP is married with strong business."
Other new releases may however be trimmed as the firm looks to protect profit margins, while this year's festive performance does not mean the end of new IPs from the publisher, quite the opposite in fact.
"We will be launching several new titles and online games in fiscal 2010," offered Riccitiello.
"While we are cutting costs, we remain committed to investing in great game quality, in new properties, and in our direct-to-consumer initiatives."
