New MMO targets Muslim community
Launching next year
A brand new MMO title has been unveiled this this week, Muxlim Pal unusual in that it is specifically designed for members of the Muslim community, although its makers stress that anyone with an interest in the faith are also welcome to join.
A new virtual world online game, Muxlim Pal will place players in charge of an avatar, and allows them to customise their character, and the look of their personal room.
The title, inspired by The Sims, is aimed at Muslims living in Western countries - its creators describing it as a lifestyle title.
"We are not a religious site, we are a site that is focused on the lifestyle," offered Mohamed El-Fatatry, the behind Muxlim.com.
"This is for anyone who is remotely interested in the Muslim culture and the Muslim lifestyle. From what we have seen from our market research is that most Muslims have a lifestyle that is not so different from everybody else," he said. "They all share the core values which are from Islam then beyond that they actually have made identities, they have many interests."
A cartoon-style world is the order of the day, while players will battle to improve lifestyle indicators like happiness, fitness, knowledge and spirituality in the game, by carrying out in-game tasks.
A public launch is planned for 2009, by which time the game will have changed radically according to its maker. We'll bring you more soon. Thanks BBC.
