Sony aren't officially cutting the price of the PlayStation 3 console with retailers this side of Christmas, but it seems they are passing on the margin their store-partners might earn, selling the system direct to players through the SonyStyle website.

With fast approaching, are offering gamers a 40 GBP discount to those acquiring a 40Gb console via their official online store. That's 269 GBP, if you prefer.

More over, an even more enticing bundle is listed as 'coming soon'. This will reportedly bundle with an 80Gb console for 279 GBP. Of course, it is unclear when this bundle will go on sale.

SonyStyle isn't the first place to see unofficial discounts offered, Play.com and other stores have also been trying to perk up demand with their own discounts. A Sony-led slicing is rumoured for the spring, but we'll bring you more on this soon.
