Support for Trophies (the PlayStation Network's answer to the Xbox's Achievements) may have been patchy in new releases so far, but word on the internet today suggests that will enforce usage of the reward system from 2009.

According to Videogamer.com, Trophies will become a mandatory part of new PS3 releases from January of the new year.

Sony confirm the move this morning, stating that "Yes, from Jan 09 all games must have Trophies."
