UK game developer Monumental, the team behind the new Football Superstars as well as game middleware technologies, has confirmed today that it is buying 50 Cent developer Swordfish Studios.

The studio was previously owned by VU Games - then - but was put up for sale following the creation of super-publisher Activision Blizzard. The move also saw 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand acquired by THQ.

The and title is due out in early 2009, although it is unclear what impact all this will have on the title's release, if any.

No purchase price was mooted. We'll keep you informed.
