Gears 2 not inspired by Predator

Although Aliens and even Star Wars was influential

Despite parallels some critics have drawn between Gears of War 2 and action flick Predator 2, Epic designer Cliff Bleszinski has made a point of saying that the game was not influenced by that particular movie.

CliffyB did reveal that The Empire Strikes Back was part of his thinking, as well as Dark Knight: "Doing what the first one did but also having a darker twist on it and going places the first one wouldn’t have had the ba–s to go, and also doing everything on a larger scale."

Likewise Aliens (think swarming locusts) has apparently played a part in the new action romp: "I wouldn’t say Predator 2 or Robocop 2 or any of those. Although we do have our share of ’80s Stallone and Schwarzenegger winks and homages and whatnot."

We loved Gears 2. Didn't we Martin? Yes, that's right, we did.
